Kustosiranje / About
and around curating project is present
on Belgrade's and regional scene through original and rich educative programme
developed in cooperation with public and civil cultural organisations,
participation in art salons (The 53rd October salon in Belgrade, The 31st Youth
salon in Zagreb), academic course, as well as organising qualitative exhibition
projects since spring 2012 (Mikser festival in Belgrade, U10 art space in
Belgrade).
Kustosiranje/ About and around curating is organising an Open call for participation in
exhibition project, in cooperation with gallery of Cultural Center Dom
omladine Belgrade (DOB). The Call is open for younger professionals and
students (up to 30 years of age) from the fields of art and culture: art
historians, artists, architects, (film and theatre) directors, producers,
archaeologists, anthropologists, philologists, biologists, astronauts...
The
exhibition team will be consisted of eight (8) selected candidates.
The Application consists of: a short CV and
a motivational letter regarding two questions: My idea for the exhibition and Why
I want to participate in his project?
The selection
of applicants will be managed by project Kustosiranje
/ About and around curating authors, Andrej Bereta and Srđan Tunić, and the
list of selected candidates will be available in public on 5th March 2013. All
candidates will be informed through e-mail about the results of the Open call.
The selected
team will start meeting on 7th March. Every Tuesday and Thursday a specially
developed curatorial workshop will take place in DOB, consisting of several
units. The attendance of each
participant is required in all lectures and workshops. By this works in
progress, our intention is to explore the basic element of successful
curatorial practice: from teamwork, developing a concept, organisation,
selection/production of artworks, writing accompanying texts, to the technology
of exhibition setting and exhibition programme.
The result of
the process will consist of realisation of a group exhibition (lasting two
weeks) in the gallery of DOB, which for decades nurtures high quality domestic
and international artistic and curatorial practice of the most creative younger
professionals, making it one of the most important gallery of that type in the
region. The exhibition opening is
planned for 9th April 2013 at 19h.
Kustosiranje / About and around curating project authors:
Andrej Bereta (1970), curator and
art historian. Worked in the Department for education in The Museum of Applied
Art, Gallery Chaos, and in October salons from 2006, in Belgrade. As part of
Civil Association ARTIKAL, as one of the founders, organises several (co)author
exhibition and educative programmes, the first being an inclusive ARTOUR: Cultural tour for people with
disabilities (ARTUR: Kulturna
tura za osobe sa invaliditetom, 2008). Participating in several
projects, such as Creative mentorship (from 2011).
Srđan Tunić (1984), curator and
art historian. Worked in The Museum of African Art in the Department for
education, associate of Gallery Zvono, Belgrade, and on projects AiR Serbia: platform for artistic residency
projects and Cultural Innovators Network (Trans-Cultural Dialogues,
Street Art 2.0). Momentarily, preparing exhibitions on comic art and
Japanese painting in Belgrade, since 2011 part of the Civil Association
ARTIKAL.
Kustosiranje/
About and around curating is
an educative and a research project, dealing with curatorial practice, with an
intent to boost proactive approach of younger art professionals in developing
independent exhibition projects. Since 2011 the project has been developed in three parallel sections: public programme, academic course and
regional/international networking.
